I'm back baby

I think I started this blog at just the wrong time - right before I went away on holiday! The past few weeks I have been entirely removed from contact with the outside world, soaking up the rays and having a right old laugh in remote sub-tropical location.

There have been two consequences of this: number 1, have little or no idea what has been happening in the world, and, number 2, I am now so deeply relaxed that nothing is really winding me up! Goodbye inspiration! Even the trouble I had getting back home was not enough to get me riled up. Well I guess I'm going to tell that story, seeing as it is my blog and I make the rules around here...

I had my flights booked with an airline, who shall remain nameless, who got me to the sunshine, no problems, its just they didn't want to take me home. Normally something like finding that my flight had been overbooked would be something that would have me getting dangerously angry - but a combination of being chilled out from my holiday and the positive experience I had getting home by other means.

I couldn't be doing with waiting for the alternative flight my airline put me on, so I just got myself on the first flights to the UK that I could find. It turns out that they were with a MUCH better class of airline. I was seduced - when the winter comes around I think I might even splash out on flights to Australia with them. It was an eye opener.

Anyway, this good mood can't last too long - the world surely can't allow that to happen...

Liberal Conspiracies

Liberal conspiracies, you have to watch your back they are everywhere. For instance until this week I had absolutely no idea that Einstein was part of one. I confess to being maybe not the best at advanced mathematics, but looking at the Theory of General Relativity it's subversive anti-family undertones completely escaped me.

Fortunately because of the wonders of the Internet I can benefit from the knowledge and opinions of people who are better educated and more intelligent than I am. In this case the good people who have taken the time to write and edit 'Conservapedia -the Trustworthy Encyclopedia' have been the ones to set me straight.

The article on the Theory of Relativity links to a page which contains no less than 28 counterexamples which prove that it is a lie. Included at number 9 is a story from the Bible, from John 4. At this point I did get a little confused, because when I read the article on pi (because I was told that it says in the Bible it was exactly 3) Conservapedia has this to say:

Common sense and a rudimentary knowledge of the Bible should cause one to question whether it sets out to define mathematical concepts.
I'm confused, and suspect a liberal may have vandalized the page. Actually, although obviously I am against them as a right-thinking, red-blooded etc. etc., I really m not sure what a liberal is. Maybe my new favorite source of information can help:

A liberal (also leftist) is someone who rejects logical and biblical standards, often for self-centered reasons. There are no coherent liberal standards; often a liberal is merely someone who craves attention, and who uses many words to say nothing.

I am so glad that there are people out there willing to stand up for logical standards.

The floods in Pakistan

I started this blog because I wanted to comment on things that are in the news. There is one story right no that is particularly distressing, and that is what is happening with the Pakistan flood. The worse floods that they have ever seen have absolutely wrecked the place - call me cynical but I think that stuff like this pretty much matches the description of climate change. If you a 'climate skeptic' here is another example Russia's terrible drought destroying their wheat crop.

What has happened is far more than a natural disaster. The problems that Pakistan faced after the earthquake were one thing, you can't after all predict when an earthquake will hit. There was plenty of warning of the heavy rains, but there still was not proper preparation. Their is a lot of anger in Pakistan directed at the government who can spend who knows how much on nuclear weapons but can't protect their citizens from the elements. One thing is for sure, the 4 million who are in the brown and smelly stuff can't rely on their government to help them - that is why the rest of the world need to make Pakistan flood donations.
