Pardoning Audi's French

There are not many laughs to be has at the consequences of global climate change, but here is one...

In a bid not to be seen as polar bear drowning environment destroyers, car manufacturers have been putting out electric vehicles. There is the luxury electric sports car, the Tesla and at the other end of the size spectrum you can even now get electric trucks. The new offering from Audi is causing a few eyebrows to be raised though - because of its name.

Audi E-Tron

The name of this swish new futuristic auto is the Audi E-Tron. The problem with this name? The French word  'étron' which means, 'turd' apparently. Rumours that it will only be available in brown are probably not true, but it surely leaves the German manufacturer facing certain difficulties in marketing the thing in France. Mind you the embarrassment caused by driving a car named after faecal matter can't be any worse than purchasing a French car...
